Prayer

Lord God, rich in mercy, you have revealed to Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity the mystery of your hidden presence in the souls of the righteous, and you have desired that she adore you in spirit and truth. Grant us, through his intercession, to abide in the love of Christ too, to become the temple of your Spirit of love in the praise of your glory.

First reading: from Ezekiel’s book (43, 1-2.4-7a)

"Then the man brought me to the gate facing east,
and I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east.
His voice was like the roar of rushing waters,
and the land was radiant with his glory.
The glory of the LORD entered the temple
through the gate facing east.
Then the Spirit lifted me up
and brought me into the inner court,
and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
While the man was standing beside me,
I heard someone speaking to me from inside the temple.
He said: ‘Son of man, this is the place of my throne
and the place for the soles of my feet.
This is where I will live among the Israelites for ever."

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in the heavenly realms
with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world
to be holy and blameless in his sight.
In love he predestined us for adoption
to sonship through Jesus Christ,
in accordance with his pleasure and will
- to the praise of his glorious grace,
which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
In him we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace
that he lavished on us.
With all wisdom and understanding,
He made known to us the mystery of his will
according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfilment
– to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

Responsorial psalm: psalm 62

"You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

Gospel according to Saint John (14, 23-26)

"Jesus replied,
‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching.
My Father will love them,
and we will come to them
and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will
not obey my teaching.
These words you hear are not my own;
they belong to the Father who sent me.

All this I have spoken while still with you.
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you all things
and will remind you of everything I have said to you’. "

Prayer on the offerings

Accept Lord, the humble homage that we present to you on the Feast of Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity, and through this pure and perfect sacrifice make us burn with love in your presence. By Jesus.

Preface

Truly it is right and good to return you Glory,
to offer you our thanksgiving, always and everywhere
to you, Most Holy Father, Eternal and Almighty God,
through Christ our Lord.
In him, you chose us,
from before the creation of the world
to be holy and immaculate, in your presence,
in the midst of Love.
To Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity,
you have revealed the mystery of your Presence
to our innermost being.
You gave him to know the Love of Christ
which surpasses all knowledge,
to commune with the sufferings of his Passion
and to experience the Power of his Resurrection.
You glorify her today in your Church
that she may teach all
the ways of silence, praise and adoration.
Therefore, in joy and thanksgiving,
with angels and saints,
we proclaim Your Glory, singing with one voice:

Prayer after the communion

May this communion with the Body and Blood of your Son, Lord, detach us from what is happening, and, following the example of St Elizabeth of the Trinity, help us to grow in your love, to enjoy in heaven the vision of your Face. By Jesus.
